The Solid Zinc and Petrified Wood Waterfall Sculptural Dining Table

A Monument of Motion, Memory, and Meaning

Part of John Brevard’s exclusive Decay of Time series, the Solid Zinc and Petrified Wood Waterfall Sculptural Dining Table is a landmark of contemporary design. In 2020, this bespoke creation became the most expensive piece of furniture ever sold online, via 1stdibs—testament to its rarity, vision, and profound craftsmanship.

This limited-edition masterpiece—one of only four—features 48 zinc legs cascading like streams of water, evoking the dynamic flow of a waterfall. The monolithic tabletop, carved from petrified wood and etched with a sacred geometry pattern, symbolizes the journey of self-ascension. Every detail is intentional. Every element, eternal.

The petrified wood, sourced sustainably from ancient Indonesian rainforests, has solidified over hundreds of millions of years. Each slab is unique in color, grain, and structure—an artifact of deep time. The hand-cast zinc structure is sealed with a thin resin layer for durability and comfort, offering both corrosion resistance and elemental strength.

Weighing nearly 2,000 pounds, this one-of-a-kind dining table is not just functional—it is sculptural. Monumental. Spiritual. A statement of reverence for nature and the art of creation.
